habits

dispatch: our main focus for this first week of "back to school" is developing a set of routine behaviors that aid in a less chaotic start to the day. the first set for the kids is fairly simple: when you wake up, go to the bathroom, get dressed, put your PJ's away, & brush your hair. make your bed is added in tomorrow. (and one that's unwritten: give mom a hug/kiss)

anyhow, do you have any habits you adhere to?

jay and i have our own code/habits: no gas-passing in the bedroom, whoever is the last one out of bed has to make it, the coffee IS ALWAYS made the night before & set to auto brew (4:30am), & no dishes left in the sink at night.

i'm trying to add flossing to my daily list after a terribly depressing visit to the dentist (i'd been away for 9 years). upon leaving the doc smiled at me and said, "you're not a bad person." i had been hoping for "you're not gross" or "it's not that bad".

i like the no gas-passing in the bedroom habit. i don't know if i could do it!

hm, habits. we don't have many. here are some i'd like to have:

- everything caron and jay's list, except that nonsense about 4:30am.
- whoever is last to use the toilet paper, refill it.
- a foot/back/neck rub before sleep each night. receivers choice. take turns!
- a little time for silence, prayer or just a cup of something warm before looking at a screen each day.

amen and amen to daphne's list. and caron's list. i'm trying to fine-tune some household tasks so that we can be more restful on the weekends. thusly, i work on the following things on thursdays and fridays:
- clean out the fridge so we can find things
- do laundry and put it away so andrew can find it when he's helping dress the little fellas
- clean out and re-pack the diaper bag
- take a shower and shave my legs. ha cha cha cha.

and caron, whatever the state of your teeth, you're not a bad person. you're not gross. and it's really not that bad.

I like these little lists of things - Our household is fairly unstructured. I will say that I absolutely agree with Daphne. What is up with the 4:30 a.m. nonsense? I mean, hello!?!? It's dark out!?!?

Moving on.

Rules that we try to adhere to at our house:

1) Never cut pizza on the stove (we have pans with holes in them). I asked for this one as an anniversary present. :)

2) For the love of everything holy, put the effin toilet seat down, especially if it's the middle of the night.

3) Say 'hello' at the end of the work day with a hug and a kiss...regardless of the chaos/drama that may or may not have happened throughout the day.

the 4:30 is nonsense, but i just keep waking up then...and start achoo-ing all over the place. so, if i've gotta be making myself get outta bed, might as well have coffee ready, eh?

take a shower & shave legs: and how about use some soap, too? :) ha cha cha cha cha. and brush your teeth! ha cha cha cha cha.

i like the warm greeting, darci.
