For those of you who did not attend the Iowa City trip.-- somehow* we came up with the idea that we had become monks of the order of Perfecto from the monastery located in the city of Shut-The-Hell-Up.
Turns out, we have a real predecessor.

well, SHUT THE HELL UP is the fourth city in the quad cities. we couldn't quite remember the fourth (the other three: rock island, bettendorf, & davenport), so the only other obvious name that was coming to mind was the aforementioned town.
someone else elaborate on the details of SHUT THE HELL UP monastery. who goes there? are the brothers/sisters very talkative?
isn't the fourth city Moline?
at any rate, would it be blasphemous to have a Whocares breakFEAST on April 18th? our own informal feast day? :)
brief explanation: the Perfectos was the name of the St. Louis Cardinals before they were Cardinals. Ali thought maybe it was a Catholic reference instead of an avian one (or, as legend has it, the hue of the Perfectos red socks). turns out, she wasn't far off. vindication! thanks, Cheryl!
we must also remember to thank our brave breakfast companion, Gene, for searching for the origin of the Cardinals' name on the googly-webs. to him we owe the order of the perfectos. (ooh! that almost rhymes).
mm, lindsay. i like your version of the history where it turns out i wasn't far off. i was far off in the version i would tell. let's go with yours. ;)
