A bit redundant, I know.

I know that you ladies talked about this, and not all that long ago if my memory serves, but I can't find the post in the archives so I am just tucking my tail between my legs and asking again. Who are my fellow INFJ's here (or, what type are all of you)? I took the Meyers-Briggs last night for the first time since Jr. High School. The kids were in bed, Nate was out playing board games with buddies, and I was home with Facebook. Alas, I took the condensed version, and now I am curious about everyone else.

Thanks for putting up with the member who is so-behind-the-times. (sigh)

it's 5:45. corrie & i are sitting in my kitchen. today is the day of the hanna city hustle 5k run. run small town people, run!

so. what's a girl to do when she's got a free night & lots of laundry to fold? well, watch "empire records" for the fifteen time, of course!

did you ever watch this movie? i saw it in the theater in '95 & was head-over-heels for A.J.. it's where i first heard "damn the man", fell in love with "liar" by the cranberries, and decided that someday i would shave my head just like angsty deb (fyi: when that day came & i was staring at myself in a mirror at the baptist mission in calcutta, india, i didn't have the guts [ovaries] to do it, though karen took a before pic right before i crumbled).

anyhow, this is a good night. my oldest is having a slumber party with her oldest cousin in the basement. my middle kid is having a slumber party at grandma's. my youngest is sleeping with a bazillion stuffed animals to ease the pain of no suitemates. and my best buddy is in town, meeting up with an old pal from our springfield days. a blissful wednesday night!

so who's in? i may...ahem, need another day or so to finish. sorry. how and when shall we do this chat? anyone know if we can video conference with iChat? a certain day/time work for folks? or would people rather have a place where we can write about it and we're not talking live?

it don't mean anything at all

hope you are so enjoying otr this evening. i remember driving around omaha after my junior year of high school was over, listening to their "'til we have faces" album. i've really enjoyed listening to their albums along the way & seeing their song-crafting develop. here's my favorite track of theirs, with a surprise ending. it don't mean anything at all.

the awakening?

anyone read "the awakening," recently or otherwise? i just finished it this morning--i'm pretty behind on my lists--and feeling more dissatisfied than the last time i read it. daph, did i see you read it? what do people think? marilynne robinson says we are misguided to debate the merit of edna's walk off "into the drink," as brooke would put it. but i'm not sure. i guess this time through, i felt like she did it because she couldn't have robert. it's interesting how even if that's the case, there's a kind of backward validation of community in that choice, even if the set up is solipsistic. (wanting to be ayn rand, but stumbling over the john steinbeck within?) she's this one woman, alone and awakened in the world, but she can't sustain it if she can't have the person she wants? this may have made a better email than a post. if so, forgive me. it's early.

ps. catcher in the rye next? anyone want to set a date? maybe finish by next wednesday, august 19th? then we can think of a way to chat about it or something?

are you going to the OVER THE RHINE show @ the waiting room on august 17th?! dang. dang. dang. ! last time i saw them was in st. louis with kate. i was pregnant and uncomfortable, but the music was more than enough to ease my pain. same with that HEM show @ mick's. someone tell me you're going.
