Last night I watched "The Proposal" alone while Caleb went to a bar to view the first game of the World Series. Don't tell him I said this, but I'll admit he had a better thing going with the Yankees and Phillies than I did with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.
I love a no-brainer get happy romantic comedy sometimes -- but Caleb absolutely refuses to watch them with me. I guess I can't blame him, they're usually terrible. Can you ladies help me? Any suggestions out there for a not toooo romantic comedy that won't make him (or me) gag?

if you haven't seen it, "lars and the real girl" was a big hit in both of our books. we even named some of our cats after the main characters. you would both really really like it. i know it.
i like "the brothers bloom," which has adrien brody and mark ruffalo. it's weird and funny enough that i don't THINK it would drive a man over the edge. but i'm not sure how much i think i'm the best judge of these things. maybe read the imdb blurb and see what you think. but! even if he doesn't want to watch it, you should see it. i think it's pretty great.
yes, ali! we saw 'the brothers bloom' a few weeks ago, and it was great! justin likes that one too!
I cast another supporting vote for brothers bloom... as did Nate.
i second corrie's vote for "lars and the real girl."
maybe you and i can watch chick flicks together. andrew won't watch them either.
i will hafta check these two out! i dunno...Michael is a sucker for a good rom-com. we are halfway through 'The Proposal' right now, and have laughed our heads off! i'm usually the one who doesn't care for them (boring plot lines, lame humor). BUT. christmastime gets me in the mood. which is why we LOVED, "Love, Actually" and "The Holiday". heh heh.
we also saw "Away We Go" and thought it was pretty cute. although i'm not sure how i feel about it as a whole. maybe you & Caleb will have to weigh in. :) you have to at least watch the part with Maggie Gyllenhaal. what a riot.
these are great suggetions. caleb actually did pretty good with away we go. that was a great movie.
but we went to see 500 days of summer starring zoey deschanel. we saw it with brent anderson because he wanted to and caleb didnt have the heart to tell him no (fun fact, brent anderson LOVES z.d.) but caleb fumed thru the movie and said the F word under his breath once. he was NOT a happy camper. i had to tell him to be quiet or leave! ha!
speaking of maggie gyllenhaal. we both love stranger than fiction. he for the graphic design and me for the awesome story.
p.s. darby you're on for chick flick watching together. let's start a list! :) i believe period films could be included as well?
i like adventureland.
