I'm at peace with the inevitable winter.

I bought a new coat a few days ago. It always helps to purchase a few new winter accessories so I have something to look forward to in the coming dismal months.

As not to sound too depressing, I should mention that tonight I noticed a flicker of actual excitement for the coming months, too: my beloved flannel blanket, warm soup, holiday lights.... But, I'm still counting on a few more nice days yet.

nice coats. what color did you opt for, cheryl? i can understand your ambivalence at best about winter. it is cozy. and oppressive. a cozy oppression. a good coat helps.

i love down coats. never understood 'em much until i moved here. but now. i love them. and i especially love that they have figured out ways to make down coats that don't make the wearer look like the michelin man. the belt on this one is v. cool.

my winter bonus lately: extra cuddly kitties. i know they're just cold and looking to warm up, but i pretend that it means they're feeling extra affectionate. does sharing this make me a crazy cat lady? i hope not.

I got the blue.

Ali-- You should write a book someday called "Winter: A Cozy Opression" I love it. :)

And Brooke, you'll never be a crazy cat lady. Just a crazy lady. In a good way. hee hee

as soon as i saw this photo, i KNEW you would get the blue! it's gonna look so good on you.

i've been in the market for good puffer coat (like brooke said, that doesn't make my short self look like the michelin man), and these - these look fablous! should have thought 'coat' before i bought rain boots this year. :)

i, too, am feeling good about the onset of colder weather. ask me in february and you might get a different story; but for now, bring on the cozy oppression. :) dang, ali - i miss your witticisms!

I bought Ella a teeny tiny Columbia coat with white puffy fleece around the trim of the hood. A small, happy consolation for the upcoming 'cozy oppression'.
