My friend, Brooke, and I went to The Wailin' Jennys concert last night at the Holland's new little venue 1200 Club*. We were treated to a phenomenal performance. Brooke made a great point that it was so nice to see three talented women doing what they love on stage-- no sex appeal, no flashy outfits or gyrating hips-- just pure talent. She mentioned to me that I should take Ada to lots of things like this and I thought-- YES! That is what I'm going to do-- as Ada grows up I'm going to take her to as many shows, art exhibits, lectures as possible featuring real-- not plastic-- women showcasing who God made them to be.
*as a side note the Holland was trying to make this 1200 Club a 30something club-like atomosphere-- you know, really hip and all. Ok, the tickets were $30 a piece, all the drinks were served in plastic cups, I got a big angry stare from a "club-goer" in front of me for whispering in between songs, it was mostly people over 55 and like a good Omaha concert-- everyone gave a standing ovation at the end. Brooke and I sat.

amen! i'm in for the art exhibits! joslyn's free on saturdays before 10AM!
word up, cheryl! also, i like how that followed the post about patty griffin + kelly clarkson=??
why are drinks so expensive at venues? it's stupid. even a soda is ridiculous. i was driving by this place today & the sign advertised 12 bottles corona for $9.99. that's something like $.83/bottle. sheesh! people pay tons more for that out & about. "people". hehe. i'm implicating everyone else except for myself.
that show sounds cool. who needs gyrating hips? (except at a bon jovi concert) bad medicine.
i like that other woman, pictured next to the jennys. is that brooke, appreciating the music?
