what they say is true

omaha is cool.
the list of places to visit, though? i'm not convinced they pointed out the truly good stuff.
if you, whocares readers, were to make a list of suggested sites, what would you say?

to get us started...

- hotshops
- the diner
- the garden of the zodiac (just kidding)

i bet that's your favorite place in omaha, with a do like that.

i second leo's. radial cafe is kind of an institution, too. but leo's is greasier. which makes for crispier bacon!

[coffee in a french press? is that what you were thinking of, caron?]

memorial park. don't know why, but that big expanse (sp?) of grass always does a body good. (not the kind of grass the kids on the hill are smoking.)

espana. i love the double-takes i get when i say i'm going to a tapas bar, and i loved their sangria. of course, this was a few years ago.

hmm, i'm sure there's more but this fog called des moines has got me stumped, darn it. :-)

good call with espania. i second that emotion. tapas dancing.
lately we've been eating a lot of delicious food from the taj, despite the consistently appalling service.
and deny the fried brie at the brazen head. i dare you. see? you can't. even though its in a strip mall, you love that bar.

i mean "espana" not "espania." thorry.

zio's downtown (*not the other locations) has my favorite pizza of all time.

i am shocked that no one has said "village pointe" yet.

i love how they spell pointe with an e. it has nice shoppes.

obviously we are all friends. thank God. you've named most of my faves.

there's always la buvette too. there's a waiter there we call little nickey. they all look the same though. uber-skinny, dressed in black, bad attitudes, deplorable service. but actually, last time i was there the girl was GREAT.

and how about targhetto. (may she rest in peace)

i laughed out loud in the creighton library when i read your "may she rest in peace" about targhetto. nice. the female personification was what did it for me. clearly. targhetto was feminine. (?)

Isn't that true about la buvette: deplorable service and attitudes! I always feel bad asking for more bread and feel as if I'm inconveniencing someone by asking that my food arrives within an hour, but I still love it there. The food is SO yum. So yum. And the atmosphere is superb.
